Sam Gommers is a partner at Animo. He focuses on all aspects of tax law. Sam has extensive experience in corporate tax in the broad sense of the word, with specific in-depth knowledge of real estate taxation and taxation for family businesses and non-profit organizations.

Sam is a lawyer at the Brussels bar. He is also a research associate affiliated with the Institute for Tax Law at KU Leuven. He authored numerous publications in national and international tax journals and regularly speaks at seminars.

Sam holds a master's degree in law (KU Leuven, 2012) and has done an Erasmus exchange at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Subsequently, he obtained a master complementaire en droit fiscal (ULB, 2013). 

Mathieu Henderikx is a partner at Animo. He has been providing high-quality advice for many years in all areas of taxation and in a business context in particular. Mathieu has extensive experience in advising, transactions and restructuring (M&A), tax rulings and audit assistance.

Mathieu is a lawyer at the Leuven bar. He is also the author of numerous tax publications and regularly speaks at seminars.

Mathieu obtained his master's degree in law from KU Leuven in 2007. He subsequently specialized in tax law (Fiscale Hogeschool 2008 and European Tax College 2009) and economic law (master complémentaire en droit économique, ULB 2008).

Marc is a lawyer at Animo.

Marc  focusses on all tax aspects companies are faced with.  

He has extensive experience in tax advisory, tax aspects of restructurings (M&A), obtaining tax rulings and assisting during tax audits.

Marc holds a master’s degree in law (UAntwerpen, 2014) and a postgraduate education in tax law (Fiscale Hogeschoolmaster’s degree in tax law (Fiscale Hogeschool, 2022).

Before joining Animo, Marc worked in a leading tax boutique in Brussels and a tax litigation firm in Antwerp.

Wout Broeckaert is a lawyer at Animo. He has a special interest in all aspects of business taxation.

Wout obtained a master’s degree in law (KU Leuven, 2020) and a postgraduate education in tax law (Fiscale Hogeschool, 2023) . Previously he obtained a master’s degree in musicology (KU Leuven, 2014), a master’s degree in music (Lemmensinstituut, 2016) and a teacher’s degree (Lemmensinstituut, 2016).

Before joining Animo in 2022, Wout worked at a Big 4 firm and was co-entrepreneur in a family business.

Wout speaks Dutch, French or English.

Jacob is a lawyer at Animo.

He specializes in corporate taxation in the broadest sense. He has extensive experience in tax consulting, restructurings and acquisitions, and obtaining tax rulings.

Jacob holds a Master’s degree in Law (KU Leuven, 2019) and a Master’s degree in Tax Law (ULB, 2020).

Before joining Animo, Jacob gained experience in the corporate tax department of a leading Brussels-based niche tax firm.

Reinert is a lawyer at Animo.

Reinert holds a master's degree in law (KU Leuven, 2022). He also obtained a postgraduate education in tax law (Fiscale Hogeschool, 2023). 

Katrien is a solicitor at Animo. 

She obtained her Master's degree in Law from KU Leuven in 2024. 

To further expand her expertise, she enrolled in the Postgraduate Programme in Tax Law & Tax Practice at the Fiscale Hogeschool, which she successfully completed in 2025.

Romy is a lawyer at Animo.

She graduated from KU Leuven in 2025 with a master’s degree in law. In 2026, she obtained her master’s degree in taxation, also from KU Leuven. During her studies, she participated in the International and European Tax Law Moot Court, an international moot court competition focused on international and European taxation.

Daria specializes at the intersection of intellectual property, technology, and tax law. Prior to joining Animo, she advised technology companies, startups, and international founders on navigating regulatory frameworks.

She holds an LL.M. in IP Laws from the University of Turin/WIPO (2019) and advanced master’s in IP and ICT Law from KU Leuven (2024).

Daria is currently pursuing the advanced master’s in taxation at KU Leuven, deepening her focus on Belgian and international tax law. Her background in tech and IP allows her to approach tax matters from both a legal and strategic business perspective.

Daria speaks English, Dutch, French and Russian.

Louis Cools is Head of Strategy & Growth at Animo. He drives bold ideas, helping steer Animo through a rapidly changing business landscape. 

Before joining Animo, Louis worked on high-impact strategy projects at McKinsey, where he built a strong analytical foundation and an entrepreneurial edge. He thrives on the crossroads of law and business.

Louis holds an MSc in Economics, Law and Business (KU Leuven, 2022) and an MSc in Political Economy of Europe (London School of Economics, 2023).
